Has anyone ever reenlisted for a bonus? If you have was the bonus stated in your reenlistment contract?

I reenlisted for a bonus two enlistments ago. If I remember right it was separate paperwork for the bonus. Still saw it in writing though

Way back in the day (1994), I signed for a bonus, and it was written out in the contract. Make sure that there is paperwork signed on this; otherwise, no bonus for you. Good luck!

All bonus' will be in the contract. If its not there... there is not a bonus.

It should be written in the contract and the Milper message should be attached to show you the terms that you must fill this or pay it back. I'd take the message to the career counselor and if they don't understand it then there are plenty of CC around post... go talk to one.

SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member It is not going to be on the DD Form 4, but on the DA Form 3540, Page 6 Section IX, ADDITIONS OR CHANGES TO THIS CERTIFICATE. That is where you should see that there is a Bonus Addendum has been added. There will also be another Written Bonus Agreement that you will sign. That is all part of the contract and that is what DFAS looks at to pay out the bonus. So you answer your question.....YES it needs to be in writing!!!!!!!!

yes It was back in 1980 it was but it may have changed since check with your reenlistment Sgt.

Yes, and yes! SGT M, be sure that on your contract your bonus money is stipulated. Remember if you do get a bonus, Uncle Sam will get @28% of that bonus. Good luck!

In my time we had variable re-enlistment bonuses in critical fields. I re-enlisted as an air traffic controller with a bonus of 4. which amounted to a bonus of 4X my monthly pay at the time...about $4K. It was published in USAF regs at the time and was technically, a part of my contract.

I just looked at my electronic record, which has all of my re-up contracts, but my bonuses were not mentioned in any of them. Hope this helps you be at ease. It was a separate document, as everything official must be in writing.
