A little humor...Has anyone every wondered why SPC Thundercloud has not been promoted yet? She is very intelligent, smart, witty and very knowledgeable in her answers. Inquiring minds want to know. Just a thought...maybe she ought to put in her application to be an officer. What do you leaders says.

CPT Renault: I've often speculated on why you don't return to America. Did you abscond with the church funds? Did you run off with a Senator's wife? I like to think that you killed a man. It's the romantic in me.

Rick: It's a combination of all three.

CPT Renault: And what in heaven's name brought you to Casablanca?

In SGT Private RallyPoint Member's case perhaps it was all three or she was misinformed!!!

SFC A. M. Drake I actually talked to SPC Thundercloud at the conference last Saturday. She is a very intelligent young lady, you are very right about that. She has only been in the military 3 years, so give the promotions time, but I recommended to her to considering becoming a warrant officer. She works in a very specialized field that limits how far she can be promoted. She mentioned she enjoyed being enlisted, so I'm not sure getting a commission would be a good fit, but warrant gives her the opportunity to continue in her field while still advancing. And that's just my 2 cents for what its worth.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I’m not officer type. What if I prefer to get a tattoo or salute someone who outranks me? I'd rather keep my options open, lol.

As for promotion, I want to go to the Soldier of the Month and Promotion boards as soon as possible after reporting to K-16 next month. I’ve been in for 3 years and 4 months; although I am on track with my peers, I need much more responsibility in order to increase my job satisfaction.

SFC A.M. Drake Honestly, going OCS was one of the worst mistakes I made in the military. I should have just stayed enlisted and advanced my military career in that direction.

If it ever hits the fan and Uncle Sam decides I need to lace up the boots again, I'm going to wanna be a SGT and go the NCO route.

Although, it would be very very VERY hard to hold my tongue when a green-as-the-grass ROTC 2LT decides to tell me what for when I'm in the right.....

But I digress. SGT Private RallyPoint Member, I see you going far as an NCO, and that is my sincere recommendation. If after some time as a SSG or as a SFC you decide you want to go OCS, then that would be the time.

She's mature and humble and we all know she'll do very well in the military regardless of the route she takes.

But I need her to stay in the NCO Corps.

I use the word "need" because when I'm a CSM, I need her to be my 1SG.
At RPx, CPT Private RallyPoint Member and I both agreed she's waaaay more mature than us lol.

Clear example of one of those MOSs that the Army likes to max out causing soldiers to ETS rather than re-classing. That's the only possibility because for her to be mature in her answers, if I was her 1SG, I'd be asking her PSG "what's keeping her from going to the board?"

SFC A.M. Drake, outstanding question and thread. I too am curious why SGT Private RallyPoint Member isn't promotable yet. She definitely is a very intelligent Soldier with a lot of potential. All of her comments are very mature, calm, precise and professional.
