Have you been disappointed with companies that claim to be veteran friendly? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-you-been-disappointed-with-companies-that-claim-to-be-veteran-friendly

So many organizations advertise a desire to hire more Vet's, however, my experience has been that most of these positions are entry level at best. As an attorney/director level candidate, I have gotten very little love from many organizations that claim a desire to hire Vet's. Has anyone had a similar experience? Ask them about their experience, and for a perspective on the culture of the company. You will likely get much better insight than what is only put out by the HR folks, who are trying to hire, but often don't understand military experience very well.

RallyPoint is a great resource for this. Just search for companies that you have an interest in, check out their members, and ask to connect. You can then follow up with messages, or ask for a 15 minute call to learn more about their experience. Most veterans will be glad to help... they are also representing their company in a sense and sometimes will be able to better help you with your goals. Nothing wrong with those jobs but after 24 years of experience and a MBA degree, I'm looking for something more. I have two year left and I'm not sure what to expect when I really start looking for a job. I think they like to make you think they support veterans.
