Any force utilizing combined arms and group unit tactics is a threat. That being said, when faced with a well armed, highly trained combat unit they will disintegrate into an asymmetrical force using the "soccer moms" as shields to counter.

if anything they are a threat in the fact they are more organized and attack more aggressive in a larger scale than what al qaeda was hitting us with. their skills as a whole is lacking now but someone with military experience is obviously making the attempt to train them.

This video only shows that they are conducting a semblance of training, which is more than could be said by some extremist elements previously encountered by US forces.

In general, they would be no match for US forces, but they ARE training and have the "advantage" of thinking that even death is a win for them.

Any force that is armed and willing to the American way of life should be viewed as a threat. ISIS may only seem laughable compared to the U.S. military now, but they are training nonetheless. Their quick and successful actions speak for themselves. We as servicemen should all be able to come to an agreement that we need to hit them fast and hit them hard before these videos manage to recruit more misguided youths into joining their organization and have ISIS grow into a force that is actually formidable. Nip it in the bud and we will be able to avoid an unnecessary bloodshed on our side.

Yes they are definitely a threat! We may look at that video and chuckle at their training, but the simple fact is they are passionate about their training and believe in their cause. I am not saying their cause or training is of any worth (professionally), but there is something to be said about their passion and unity that must be recognized as dangerous. Maybe not so much in one on one combat between our and their forces, but to the innocent citizens that they will intimidate, harm and kill as a result of their confidence.

For me they are more of an immediate threat to my team. I am a military contractors with friends/co-workers in Afghanistan and the Middle East. As an AT/FPO long before 9/11 what worries me the most is that these guys are barbaric and have thrown out all the rules. Even Iran a state sponsor of terrorism is worried about them. No I know that is because the support Syria but this is a complicated subject. ISIS/ISIL is a threat, one that can be dealt with and is but still a real threat that could be coming to our backyard as we chase them into their graves in the sand. I would not lose any sleep on it here but we have not heard the last of this group.

Yes, they are a threat. Just like Al Qaeda and the Taliban, their weapons and tactics are not impressive to say the least. They are a threat because, just like Al Qaeda and the Taliban, they are able to rely on us following rules of engagement and the Geneva Convention, and therefore, use this against us. They have been able to generate propaganda that somehow their existence is our fault, causing us to lose the support of millions of Americans. They know, like the NVA did, that while our front is impenetrable, our rear has little support that is decreasing all the while. It is there that they wage their war.

I've seen more impressive training/propaganda videos come out of Mogadishu for al Shaba'ab. While any enemy with a gun is a threat, these yahoos don't do it for me.

That clip where the man (snrrk) in the mask was doing a kata? Yeah, I think I learned that one about 25 years ago or more.

Not trying to be flippant about this group as they have taken quite a bit of turf in their own playground, but I don't see them doing much outside of their own area. Even if they liase with another group there will be infighting, internal dynamics issues, ideological problems like we have already seen that have caused other trans regional groups to fracture.

They are threat. Not because their training looks funnier than video of two Tae Kwon Do toddler's sparring, but because they have weapons that can actually kill.

The danger in these people is not in their training or skill. These IS members are all of a belief that ONLY their religion is right and that all non believers should be purged from earth. Another terrifying factor is their ability to recruit and completely turn the young. Any child able to pull a trigger is considered a soldier. Children under 16 are sent to religion camp, over are sent to military camp. These people truly believe that what they are doing is the only right thing to do, and will not stop until they achieve their goal. As to the question are they a threat.... I leave you with an analogy, Is a mother bear a threat if you stand between her and her cubs? That mother bear mindset is what these people have.

They're a threat, but not because of the high speed training, soccer mom convoy (that I'm guessing would be an A-10 pilot's wet dream) and combat techniques shown in the video. I don't know what the hell was going on with showing a guy performing what looked like the green belt Tae Kwon Do form. Badly. They're a threat because they don't respect any boundaries and don't have any problem killing anyone; to include women and children. They're a threat because they have mounted a somewhat successful social media campaign- that I've seen reposted on Tumblr. They're a threat because they have had some success (albeit limited) in luring stupid westerners over to fight for them. Or, clean latrines. Whatever.

For whatever sake's stop underestimating the enemy. Joke all you want, but regardless of this video, we have people who are willing to kill and die while trying to kill us.

Most of their force are the bunch of criminals, who already been convicted of several crimes even in Islamic world, but decided they got nothing better to do and to join ISIS to fight, thus they are undisciplined and un trained for majority of their units.

Their elite are foreign fighters such as Chechen Mujahedin who had fought Russians (to remind you the second best army in the world), who actually won the first Chechen War and while losing Second Chechen War, still put their hardened experience in dangerous people's hands.

Furthermore, they have captured US military equipment. One of the most fearsome is a small number of Abrams they are using as hardened defense points. Most of their American made weaponry are brand new and have accessories like ACOGs and PAS13, that generous Uncle Sam gave to Iraqi Army.

They have surplus stocks of American made armor, captured from Iraqi army, while our most capable allies fighting (Peshmerga) have nothing but whatever comes in their hand scrounged.

Finally their achievement cannot go unnoticed, where they managed to rout well trained and equipped Iraqi Army within days.

This enemy cannot be underestimated regardless of this video.

I didn't see too much martial arts in that video. It looked like the guy was practicing low level Tae Kwon Do forms, although I'm not really sure what it was. Looked sloppy though.
