Cpl Dennis F. 297073 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Here's one for the Radar O'reillys out there. One of my old crew put in paper work to finally receive his awards from RVN. Due to the fact that we were attached to the Korean Marine Corps, in addition to the usual three ribbons and the PUCs that we were awarded, he also received two awards from Korea. I have tried to google what these might be with no luck. Most Koreans awards are to high level officers only. Anyone have any ideas. Also how does one update a DD214 and apply for awards due? Help with acquiring Vietnam awards. 2014-10-27T21:22:09-04:00 Cpl Dennis F. 297073 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Here's one for the Radar O'reillys out there. The clerk just kept putting one paper in front of me after another and I was asked to sign off. I was eager to get all of that paper work done with and I really didn't pay too much attention as to what I was signing. Hell, I just got back from Vietnam and I was a Sergeant and all I wanted to do was get out. During my haste, I signed everything. After getting back to the World, I was given a packet of everything I signed. I never look at anything until much later when I applied for VA Benefits. While working with the VA, I sent away for a complete copy of all of my Military Records and when I got them, I noticed so many discrepancies. I received a Certificate of Commendation while in Vietnam and I noticed that they had my Service number wrong. They had inverted two numbers from 91 to 19. I have this Certification and I sent a copy of it to the Dept. of Navy asking them to correct the mistake. They never did. The Commendation was never listed on my DD-214. I also had two MOS's while in the Corps, 0311 and 5591. I also brought that to the attention of the Dept. of Navy and again they did not correct it or list it on my DD-214. While in Vietnam, I received a would to my right arm and was treated and operated on at the Field Hospital in Quang Tri and I have photographs of me with bandages and all . When I received my so called complete Service Record, which included all of my Medical Records, there is no mention at all of ever being at the Field Hospital and being operated on for my wound. I again brought this to the attention of the Dept. of Navy and even sent them a copy of the photographs. I did receive a corrected copy of my DD-214 as I did file a DD-149 requesting that they correct my DD-214. They still did not make any corrections to any of the above. Any advice how to get these discrepancies corrected once and for all? Thanks &amp; SF!
