Good afternoon, Dana. In the early pages of your book AND THE GOOD NEWS IS... you gave a quick take on how you wound up where you have; that being in the right place at the right time accounted for much of your career. How much of this would you say is putting the road in God's hands by not saying "No"? I'm a pretty firm believer that by taking just a few chances to say "Yes" (or even "Maybe") you may open a long string of positives. But you can't get to the end of that string if you don't take that first chance.

Ms. Perino,

Thank you for making yourself available on the RP forum. My dog is Luke, he is a Shelter dog that we adopted and has been fantastic for my wife, Melissa, and our four children, while I have been deployed overseas.
I encourage families to look for a shelter dog to adopt, so many opportunities to match needs.
For military families and veterans, service dogs are a great comfort, do you have any experiences with service dogs from your time in the white house that you would like to share?

My black cat, Emily, is adoring and most therapeutic/cathartic: when it comes to my tears.
She physically lays her body, on, for instance: my back or my arm; when I am upset.

Thanks for making yourself available for questions and being a rational and objective person on TV instead of attempting to slant the news presentation like so many others. I am curious what your opinion is on if it is possible to return the Cable news channels back to an honest and objective presentation of the news or if they are too far gone and market segmented. I realize we will never hit the 100% level but I compare the standards between the Economist Magazine and MSNBC, and it is clear there is a problem with the latter. Compare BBC with CNN, yes BBC is slanted sometimes but CNN has issues with it seems a lot more anchors attempting to inject their personal opinions in the news delivery. So that is my question, "Is it possible for us to return to a largely unbiased news reporting approach?"

I would very much like to get back to a time and place after a presidential election that respect for the process is embraced. As a former White House Press Secretary, how would you set the tone for unity ?

First, thank you for being a terrific role model. My daughter is a Journalism major graduating with honors who has hit the ground running. In addition to admiring your career for many years, I've especially appreciated the insights you share on 'The Five'.

After an election, donors/lobbyists begin their infiltration of the system. Having a self-funded, winning campaign that owes little to no favors creates an intriguing situation where qualifications trump party affiliation. Obviously, the hope is that smart people are put in the right place(s). Can you elaborate on the pros/cons of the new administrations absence of political pay-back?

How will the media rebuild trust with the public? How hard and long is the media going to be back paddling with the election of Mr. Trump? Its seems that only Fox was the major news source that gave him a chance. How do we allow the others like CNN to survive after the tampering of the election?

Just a comment:
I believe the main stream media and world owes President Bush a big SORRY, because it finally came out chemical weapons were found in Iraq. I was there in late 2003 when some were found, and I know of others who were there later when chemical arty shells were found. Please tell him we know he was right.

Dana. thanks for meeting up and answering questions with vets and active duty members. I have 2 questions: 1. How can you tolerate the obtuse and often irrational positions of Juan Williams on The FIVE?
2. Having had dogs and even cats, I understand the human relationship / bond with animals especially with our former dog which traveled with us to Europe and was treated well by the staff and the Marines while visiting and living in an American Embassy. We were devastated years later when she died. But in my 50 yrs of marriage to a wonderful woman who supported my military years and our later life decisions for over 50 years, I consider her "my best friend." Thus my question, why is Jasper your "best friend?" verses family?

Thanks for coming back to RP. This past election cycle you have talked about media accountability and the responsibility of voters to be properly informed. On an interview with Bill O'Reilly you stated that you've received push back, not only from peers in the media but also voters, about sharing facts over being a cheerleader ("a lot of republicans expect me to be a cheerleader for the candidate" - 'The O'Reilly Factor,' 18 Aug, 2016) and making excuses for Donald Trump (e.g. "I will not lie to you about the state of this race. I will not do it. No amount of peer pressure digital or otherwise can move me" -@DanaPerino). Also, post-election, "fake news" sites which offer fake and bias information on social media have been mentioned as being one of the reasons for the election outcome.

First, what peer pressure did you get and what was said to you?

Second, What do you think about the information bubble people surround themselves with? What should Americans do to be more responsible for the content they consume and the information they share? How dangerous is this media paradigm we are in and what should be done about it?

RallyPoint - I love what you do, and I'm so glad to have been back to take some of your questions during this transition period. I wrote a book about my dog - of all things! - during an election year, and it really was a wonderful distraction from all of the politics.
