Honoring your Veteran's grave this holiday season2020-12-11T15:48:18-05:002020-12-11T15:48:18-05:00PO1 H Gene Lawrence6571951<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is all great information. Thank you so much for providing it.Response by PO1 H Gene Lawrence made Dec 11 at 2020 4:02 PM2020-12-11T16:02:17-05:002020-12-11T16:02:17-05:00MAJ Ken Landgren6574992<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had a buddy who was haunted that he lost soldiers and asked me what I could to help him. I told him I never thought of this endeavor and to let me sleep on it, and I would answer tomorrow. The following day I told him to hold a private, small, intimate, somber ceremony for them. To ask their maker to accept them into a better place. He went to the cemetery with their tags and spoke to each of them. He looked up and asked their maker to accept them. This tremendously reduced his burden. Another veteran asked me for the same help and gave him the same advice. He was able to release his guilt and sadness as well. He wrote letters to them.<br /><br />We have 3,000 soldiers buried in a Netherlands cemetery. Their sacrifices have been institutionalized. It is part of the country's DNA now and is a national event to recognize our soldiers who died trying to liberate the Netherlands. Every single grave has been adopted by a Dutch family for flowers and ceremonies. They are now sons of the US and the Netherlands. There is a long waiting list to adopt the graves. For this I have immense gratitude for the Dutch because they love our boys. Much deeper than my words.Response by MAJ Ken Landgren made Dec 12 at 2020 5:09 PM2020-12-12T17:09:24-05:002020-12-12T17:09:24-05:00SFC Joe S. In Europe there are several pristine American Cemeteries that shelter our Fallen Hero's from WW1 and WW11. These cemeteries are flawlessly taken care of and are a true testament of the mission of the ABMC. Local communities in France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg all have waiting lists to be a caretaker of their local cemeteries! Even the children, at an early age are taught of the tremendous sacrifice The American Soldiers have paid for their freedom! It is really inspiring and I feel a deep sense of gratitude to those that still keep these Brave American Soldiers history alive! American Battlefield Monuments Commission is to be commended for their efforts honoring our Brave American Fallen Hero's! War Dead. They were initiated in the 1920's following WW1. Many thousands of American War Dead are buried in Europe, Hawaii, etc! I am happy to go anytime its needed. Just send me the information on the person and location if you know it. I would have never thought of this as a way to help people but I am glad this was shared. I love this because I am an Army Brat, AF Vet and Army Wife, so we move a lot. There is no telling where our kids will be in reference to where I am buried. It comforts me to think someone out there would be willing to do this on my behalf so they can stay connected.Response by Capt Ebony May made Jan 11 at 2021 4:39 PM2021-01-11T16:39:42-05:002021-01-11T16:39:42-05:00PO3 Gordon Bennett6697958<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would be honored to place wreaths at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA or place something on the grave of a soldier if their family cannot make it and requests a visit to their loved one's grave.Response by PO3 Gordon Bennett made Jan 27 at 2021 4:45 PM2021-01-27T16:45:16-05:002021-01-27T16:45:16-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6718406<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Visiting Alabama National CemeteryResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2021 10:56 PM2021-02-03T22:56:24-05:002021-02-03T22:56:24-05:00PO3 Alan Killebrew6723345<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I live a couple of blocks from the US cemetery in Manila Philippines. In high school his father told him that he needed to focus on his academics or he'd be digging holes for a living. He decided that he wanted to get out of his family life and join the military. Fast-forward a few years, It's 1990 and he's making a foxhole in Kuwait, looks up at his buddies and realized there he was, digging a hole for a living.<br /><br />It's been almost a decade since he died, but I still try to get to the Arlington cemetery whenever I can. In the cold sands of Normandy. There are spirits in the wadis in North Africa and perhaps near date trees where shamals darken the sky with dust and sand. I bought wreaths for each of my grandchildren and took them with me for the wreath laying on the tombstones at the Amelia Virginia Veterans cemetery. I instructed them to read the name out loud of the person interred there and to say a prayer for that persons loved ones before placing the wreath. They enjoyed the ceremony.Response by CSM Jim Corrin made Mar 29 at 2021 10:47 AM2021-03-29T10:47:43-04:002021-03-29T10:47:43-04:00Dana Goodman7008260<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>With Memorial Day upon us, we will be VISITING Quantico National Cemetery to visit my husband. <br /><br />The kids and I would be honored to stop by other beloved at Quantico this weekend.Response by Dana Goodman made May 27 at 2021 11:37 PM2021-05-27T23:37:10-04:002021-05-27T23:37:10-04:00SFC Randy Hellenbrand7354834<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I honor them. One way to do that is by visiting and decorating their graves with wreaths and flowers. Another way is by choosing a beautiful and lasting memorial, like a [headstone bench](<a target="_blank" href="https://vancouvergranite.com/monuments/bench-monuments/">https://vancouvergranite.com/monuments/bench-monuments/</a>) from Vancouver Granite. These benches are not only a stunning tribute, but also a practical and functional addition to any cemetery or memorial site. They provide a comfortable place to sit and reflect on the memories of your loved ones. Let's make sure our veterans are always remembered and celebrated. <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default">
