How can I get my pcs orders/projection cancelled ?

I hope you guys can give help me out. I am stationed at fort drum with ETS date of January and I just got projection for Ft Bliss with a report date of February next year. I want to ets. I went to my retention to try to get it cancelled but she told me to signed a dec statement because I plan maybe coming back as an officer in the reserves. How can I get this projection cancelled or can I just reenlist for stabilization or change MOS...? I don't want to go to bliss. please help ?

Email or call your branch manager. If they wont delete the orders then you'll have to do the dec statement.

Unfortunately the assignment won’t get deleted. The only two choices you have is re-enlisting to take the assignment or signing a dec. IG won’t be able to assist because there isn’t any wrong doing in your situation. ETSing does not prevent you from receiving assignment instructions. So the information/options retention provided is correct.... Good luck to you....

You sign a declination statement. That's the process. You can still join the reserves.

I won't argue with the folks who have already answered. They are smarter on this stuff than I. However I will say I find it VERY odd that branch would assign someone for a report date AFTER their ETS. I have seen reports three to four months prior plenty often, but assigning a Soldier who isn't even on the books for that point in time seems a bit odd.

Dude. So you don't want to take an assignment to Fort Bliss. That is why you decline. SIGN THE STATEMENT, seperate, then seek a commission in the Reserves. Really Simple.

Please clarify. Is the report date after your ETS date? If so, it should be a none issue. You cannot report if you’ve ETS’ed. Sometimes the left hand of the Army isn’t talking to the right hand. I would hold off on signing the DCS Statement.

Be careful on signing DEC statements. They can come back to haunt you. Everyone has had an assignment they didnt want to go to. You will either have to suck it up or just Decline it. When are you going to ETS? If you have to stay at Bliss for a year or so, just do it and get it over with. There's a reason why military members are so respected, we do things we dont want to do out of selfless service.

All you can do is contact your branch manager and explain your circumstance. Unfortunately, you have already indicating a willingness to stay at your station, change jobs etc. that is precisely why the policy is the way it is. Branch will not likely make an exception without some compelling reason. Thank you for your service.

Deja Vu!

It happened to me back in 1996. As a n E5 with less than a year to ETS I got PCS orders to Korea. Since I already had an college admissions and everything ese squared away it didn’t bothered me but was obligated to sign a declination statement. I actually got an early separation for further education approved and a R3 code. I transitioned into the Reserves and three years later commissioned active duty thru ROTC.

Just make sure you got your duck

You would have to have a valid reason other than “I don’t want to go there” to get your assignment deleted. No disrespect, as a Soldier they Army sends us where we are needed to fill a required vacancy, we don’t have the luxury of going where we want or not going to a location just because we haven’t been there before or because we don’t want to leave a place that’s familiar to us. We all agreed to go where we are needed and we are paid to do a job at a specific location. So unless you have a valid reason to request a deletion, it won’t happen, been there, done that, and it turned out to be one of my best assignments ever.....
