I went accelerated with the NCNG. They had a board and out of 27 only 6 were selected. They lean heavy on prior service usually. They just don't want to send anyone. It is a pretty instance course. I was told I was doing Accelerated. And I was given a two month notice. It's ridiculously intense. And I watch many many people leave because they couldn't make it. But that was 7 years ago. Like 1LT Rosa said, we were boarded and our group selected was all prior service. Every State is different though due to needs of the State. I second the comments about how intense it was. The POI is the same as active duty but your are doing it all in 8 weeks instead of the 14 they have. if my memory serves me right, it was 05:00 wake up and you didn't get to hit the rack until 23:00. It's basic training all over again but with leadership roles for everyone and more classroom focused.
The Traditional Course is a grind in another way though. You have to look forward to two years of getting your but handed to you during the weekends you have to go to drill. Personally, I preferred to get it over with.
The biggest thing about OCS is to take it stride, remember your goal, and embrace the suck either way you end up having to suck that egg. I am only aware of one Soldier being sent to federal OCS, and he was not prior service. 2LT Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 06 Aug 2017 22:29:55 -0400 2017-08-06T22:29:55-04:00 2017-07-24T20:57:32-04:00
