SPC(P) Jay Heenan 748172

This is rather difficult to type...I didn't think it would be an issue. My Army career has come to an end, I am no longer an active duty Soldier...I am a Veteran. Strange, I thought that I would be happy considering how bad my last couple duty station leadership have been. I don't miss those bast*rds, but I already miss parts of being a Soldier. I loved being a Soldier, I loved being the one everyone would come to when they needed a question answered. I didn't know everything, but I could hold my own when it came to most things. I read regulations...a lot. In my experience, I have found that even if you are right (backed by regulations), commanders still can do whatever they want, because they are protected. IG is a freaking joke. Going above them doesn't do anything except make the target on your back even bigger. Oh well, I digress.

11 June was my last day on active duty and I am now left with questions. What do I do now? I have a plan, but I am honestly scared to death to do anything. It is like I had a purpose and now I don't. It is overwhelming actually. This really isn't why I posted this, so I will get to the point (finally). I had 18.5 years in and was medically retired. I was beside myself with grief, anger, frustration, guilt, betrayal,.......... the list is endless. I am sorry. The military is a harsh taskmaster, a few are fortunate to survive and serve. Others are discarded by the wayside.

Please; Take several deep breaths, explore a new plan, strive, work at being a strong swimmer!, become a survivor! I was in school for a little while after I got out. Right now I work only part time. I will probably go back to school and complete my degree. My self I was already a veteran when I joined.
