How do you find an opportunity to be stationed in Fort Hamilton?

I'm an active duty, 92Y unit supply specialist. I've been always wondering about places like Fort Hamilton(NYC) or Fort Myer(D.C) are requiring only selective personnel or something else. I've never seen or heard of any story about being stationed in those bases, so I've been always curious.

IMHO, the best thing to do is check to see if they have an open slot, than see if you can put in for the position. It can't hurt to try.

Most of the folks who were stationed there used to re-enlist to stay there...
But I thought Hamilton fell to BRAC

SGT Sungrae N., Fort Myer is actually in Arlington, VA, immediately west of and adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery. It is now called and is part of Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall. It is home to the U.S. Army's elite ceremonial units; the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and the U.S. Army's 3d Infantry Regiment "The Old Guard".

besides the economy being very high in those areas, it wouldnt be bad duty i wouldnt think. Ft Hamilton would be cold as a well diggers butt in winter, lot of snow in Meyer and traffic is terrible around DC. i would never want to be close to DC. too much dog and pony....i was always nearly in combat units and that is where you really learn wartime logistics but you stand a bigger chance of being deployed a lot.

I was the supply sergeant for D co 1/3 INF Reg (The Old Guard) at Fort Myer, Va from 2008 to 2012. If you are looking for any info, hit me up with a PM and I would be glad to answer questions. It was a very fun and challenging assignment, and very rewarding, but also very long hours.

Fort Hamilton is a Reserve and National Guard Base. Fort Myer (Arlington) is selective personnel base or ceremonial units. See a recruiter on how to get stationed at these locations or call SGT Dustin on his experience.

If you can be recruited by 3rd Infantry Regiment (i.e.Honor Guard), then you will be able to station at Fort Myer. I have two AIT battle buddies selected back in 2015
