A label is a double edge sword. It needs to happen to get the right treatment, and it can bring peace to some because they know they are not crazy. And people can make themselves sicker by living into the diagnosis. This has a lot of power over people. I talk to patients about this when they go through the VA claim process, because on top of the things mentioned above a person gets the highest reward for staying unwell.
