My current ETS will have me at 13 Years of service, and I don't want to lose the time...so I was thinking about going RC. What are your thoughts? Experiences?

My main motivation is for my family. As well as money as a possible GS? Advice? How do you transition from active to reserve? 2015-01-05T13:15:35-05:00 SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member 402819

So, I am thinking about transferring from Active to Reserve. If you wait until after separation, you will have to go through MEPS.

Your AC time counts toward non-regular retirement. 7 more years and you get the notice of eligibility; age 60 you collect. You do the bare minimum, and you'll still get about 35% from the right side of the pay chart. I'm our companies re-up Nco so my knowledge is better then average on the subject but I'm no expert. That being said after having to answer some questions about this subject for my soilders Rc and Ng have a lot of pros to them both. Good luck to you in whatever you decide I think you will be happy no matter what. Prepare yourself and keep an open mind. As far as GS positions check out CPOL to apply.
