Why would you risk your retirement like this? He had one month before terminal leave started on a 20 year retirement. He was reduced to SGT, which violated his RCP. His retirement packet was pulled and he was Chaptered out. It happens all the time with E4&#39;s on the way out the door, but it&#39;s rare that someone would jeopardize a retirement. 1SG Al Brown Sat, 10 Dec 2016 08:34:37 -0500 2016-12-10T08:34:37-05:00 Response by SSG Laurie Mullen made Dec 10 at 2016 11:35 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-does-a-positive-urinalyses-effect-your-retirement-packet?n=2147712&urlhash=2147712 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Why would anyone risk their retirement for something so stupid?? You surely don&#39;t think they will keep you around for 20 years because you were young and made a mistake. I don&#39;t see it ending well - at a minimum I would think the retirement packet would be pulled and the individual dishonorably discharged. Maybe worse. Although as others have said, it is up to the chain of command as to what actions, if any, are taken.
