Transportation out of enroute (it was the opposite direction).]
2. I did it on active duty time but got no meals or mealcards so I paid for my food. I simply wrote a check for all the meals at the XO's Office.
3. I paid for any and all my gear the school required outside of normal issue. It was much so that wasn't a worry and many of the instructors 'loaned' me stuff.
4. I slept on-site because a platoon going thru together had an empty bunk due to an injury prior to arrival.
5. I was a walk-in, but feel they were going to let me attend no matter what, but I might had had to pitch a tent if there hadn't been a bunk available.
6. I had the School's letter and permission. (1st step)
7. Plus the same from both my departing unit (2nd step) and arrival unit (third step) field-grade commanders.
8. I made sure the three units (school/departing/arrival) all were sent copies of each others letters as I got them myself.
9. I received offical orders in time to attend. This was a 4 month , check mail everyday, walk the paperwork through my local command to the commanding general. Once he had me meet face-to-face (be prepared to argue your case.), he had his aide usher me out with "For the General" signed papers.
.
The reason why you have to go through all that is so:
1. Your local Field Grade Commander lets you go.
2. The School Commandant accepts you
3. Your Arrival Field Grade Commander can ensure that your attendence will interfere at his unit's schedule.
4. You don't fall thru a crack.
5. You have a valid military reason to attend the training.
6. You can afford to shovel out any that also may be required.
.
The Commanding General required I transmitt to all of the three field grade commanders involved required my travel schedule and reservations.
.
Good Luck SFC Ralph E Kelley Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:19 -0400 2018-10-27T03:01:19-04:00 Response by SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 29 at 2018 11:12 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-does-it-work-for-active-member-attending-alc-school-in-the-national-guard?n=4083406&urlhash=4083406

Alright I don't understand what you mean you will receive two DA form 1059. There can only be one official from a school house for a course. When I was active duty back in 2011 I went to BNCOC phase 2 for 11B at Fort Indiantown gap that is a national guard ran course. I went there with other 11B's from 10th mountain from Fort Drum. Everyone that graduated received one official 1059, they all got Ipermed and sent to HQDA.
