How is reclassing to a 27D like?

I’m currently active duty. My contract is ending within this year. And I am very interested in changing my mos to 27D, I am currently in college for criminal justice but I recently changed my major to forensic psychology

I will reclass from 68w to 27D I failed the same skill twice but I passed my national registry test. I heard you also need to pass a national registry test just like The NMRET for paramedics but for paralegals? If so what can I do while I’m in holdover status in Fort Sam? Like what is the test called? Or what content that I can go over while I’m not doing anything here. Also how long does it take to phase up tko gold phase and how weekend...

You would think that someone that’s done their research would understand that Criminal Justice aligns more with 27D than forensic psychology. With that being said, 27D slots are extremely rare to come by so the likelihood of you reclassing into the MOS are slim to none

I went through in 2016, the school was right next to Mortuary Affairs at Fort Lee. AIT Students who were trying to MOSQ would get the traditional experience, barracks and restrictions. MOST's however were allowed more freedom and could go off post more often.

The fail rate was around 1/3 when I went through, lots of reading and writing required. You'll spend a lot of time in the classroom and you'll need to study outside of class as well for the weekly tests.

It's doable, and it's an interesting MOS, and a necessary one. Reach out to your local JAG office for additional info on how they operate and of course a career counselor to see if you can transfer.

To be honest, you probably will not get a 27D class seat. There are very few class seats released any given year. Also, if I remember correctly, they do not accept promotable SPC or above.

You should think of about five to ten MOS's that are not unicorn MOS's you're willing to accept and grab the first one that becomes available. Don't go back home and talk about it over the weekend, don't ask questions on RP or Reddit. Don't phone a friend. MOS class seats disappear within minutes of being posted

Don’t give up. I pushed for a while to get a 27D slot. Yea it was tough but I got it. Just because everyone says it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not possible
