Leavenworth is unlike other Army posts. Leavenworth is a staff officer training command. Post is geared toward support of the staff college. I loved Leavenworth. However, I lived off post. The people are great. Hope you like it too. Good luck! SFC William H. One of the nicer facilities I've seen in my career. Hard to give an accurate opinion since my exposure was only that, but it did seem pretty well off. The housing, if you have a family, is hit or miss. The newer stuff is really nice; the older stuff... not so much. The area, however, is exceptional. Leavenworth was easily the most paradoxical duty station of my career. Worst unit I ever had (MEDDAC), but the finest geographical location I've ever been stationed. The PX is full of higher end products catering to the officer's wives. $$$
The Class 6 prices are set on Kansas prices which are much more expensive than Missouri.
The auto craft shop will save you millions of dollars over your career.
The town of Leavenworth is a dump. Take the time and get to know Kansas City. Lots of pro sports: Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC (soccer), NASCAR...
My advice, get here, get in great shape, go to selection, get in the fight!
