HRC won’t even talk to you until you have at least 30 months on station.
As far as reclassing, once you’re in your window to re-enlist you can have the career counselor to check if that is an option for you....
Good luck to you.... If you like your job, just ride it out and re-enlist for where you would like to go next. Your window opens up 15 months out from your ETS date. There are no tanks on JBLM. There is a MGS platoon in each SBCT. It’s a Stryker with a 120 mm cannon on it. I’m guessing it’s a pretty hard position to get. You can look at ACT to see what positions are available at JBLM for a 19K1O. I have reclassed six times during my career (long story and I won't get into it here). Most of them were due to reassignments.

The last one took about eight months to complete. The story on that is, I was a 46Q20 (Public Affairs Specialist) in the Reserves, I returned to active duty and was basically forced into becoming 92Y20 (Unit Supply Specialist). When I arrived at Fort Lee for AIT, I went directly to the Public Affairs Office to see if they could help me stay a 46Q. They made calls to branch and were told that because I had already signed a contract I HAD to complete one year as a 92Y. About a year and a half later I began the reclass process, which, like I said took about eight months. It would have been quicker had the retention NCOs I was working with had not been so lazy and complacent about doing their job.

Keep in mind this happened in 2005, so things may be different now. I Corp has limited positions for E5's but it might not be in the best interest for you. There are some armor slots on JBLM but those slots are filled by SSGs through SFCs in 189TH IN. There are talks that 19Kilos will be going back to the MGS within this upcoming year, so you should just be patient.
