I started filling out my packet and im dropping it in about 4 months. I submitted mine back on Dec 4th, Dec 17th had a sit down with investigator. It is now June 20th and still nothing. My security manager looked again in JPAS yesterday and nothing so it has been over 6 months for me and no word. They said the processing time would be faster but so far seems like it isn't. Others in my company took awhile. How much did you move around, what is your credit like, do you have any criminal record. Will anyone in you past say anything derogatory about you. A lot of factors go into the investigation. No two are alike. If you remember, there are people in the news who were/are Military who are giving away our secrets. Be patient, an answer will come. However, I would drop that packet as soon as possible, so it gets started. I believe the timeline now is 90 days to 1 year for submitting packets for renewal. Was this a command directed renewal? Or was it a "hey, I need to do this" renewal? Having just gone through the T3R process to get my clearance renewed, I am not sure what paperwork you are completing now. Shortly before my current investigation expired (which should be 10 years for a secret), the G-2 initiated an E-QIP the E standing for Electronic. Once you complete the on-line form the length of time for your clearance to be renewed is dependent upon how much investigation needs to be done and how busy the adjudicator is. My investigation opened on 4 Nov and was closed on 13 Feb, the adjudication was completed on 9 Mar so it took about 4 months. To be fair, I have lived in the same house for around 15 years (the same house as my previous investigation) and I have a long steady credit history so there may not have been as much to investigate this time around. Regardless, once your investigation is opened, your security clearance will remain valid until your are either cleared or denied due to DEROG information. When it's time to renew, your clearance will stay in place until your review is complete.
