The school you are attending should be able to look in JPAS and verify your clearance.<br /><br />CORRECTION - the Coast Guard falls under DHS during peacetime. However, they should still have access to JPAS.Response by SGT Edward Wilcox made Aug 30 at 2016 2:36 PM2016-08-30T14:36:13-04:002016-08-30T14:36:13-04:00CSM Darieus ZaGara1849554<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There is no real time associated with this process. In fact the CG should have direct access to verify your clearance. I would ask your CG POC to clarify. What it may be is that the CG is validating and determining reciprocity or not. The transfer of the clearance is what takes the time.Response by CSM Darieus ZaGara made Aug 30 at 2016 3:30 PM2016-08-30T15:30:42-04:002016-08-30T15:30:42-04:00SN Greg Wright1849923<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Just curious, but why are you hopping over to the Puddle Jumpers?Response by SN Greg Wright made Aug 30 at 2016 5:21 PM2016-08-30T17:21:22-04:002016-08-30T17:21:22-04:00MCPO Robert Kelley1866576<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Assuming JPAS use it could take just a few minutes but local commands usually have some internal processes. The DOD and/or DHS do not perform background checks for the CG. If you goto Opm.gov you can find all of your own answers to your security clearance related questions.Response by CPO Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 6 at 2016 8:17 AM2016-09-06T08:17:59-04:002016-09-06T08:17:59-04:00PO1 Private RallyPoint Member1867723<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It may have changed, but when I looked into some issues with clearances a few years ago the USCG wasn't actually using JPAS they maintained their own clearance center. They do have access to JPAS though and it should be relatively easy to make the move, assuming that on the release from service (to facilitate the transfer) they didn't relinquish the clearance for some reason. Good luck!Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 6 at 2016 1:35 PM2016-09-06T13:35:58-04:002016-09-06T13:35:58-04:00PO1 Kevin Dougherty1869507<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It was many moons ago, but when I was in it took about a week to get full clearance. Command may have expedited it, as I was replacing an ET-1 who had been busted twice for incompetence, and transferred off. As LPO for Electronics I had to have access to CIC, Radio, Crypto and IFF, and I had to have it like yesterday since much of the equipment was casrepped.Response by PO1 Kevin Dougherty made Sep 7 at 2016 12:01 AM2016-09-07T00:01:35-04:002016-09-07T00:01:35-04:00PO2 Private RallyPoint Member1930473<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It all depends how they send it and what the instruction states. The coast guard should have the same system to be able to look up your clearance. You have to remember your clearance is PII so there's protocols that have to be followed. Good luck and hopefully that gave you some insight.Response by PO2 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 28 at 2016 4:40 PM2016-09-28T16:40:13-04:002016-09-28T16:40:13-04:002016-08-30T13:50:10-04:00
