The school you are attending should be able to look in JPAS and verify your clearance.

CORRECTION - the Coast Guard falls under DHS during peacetime. However, they should still have access to JPAS. In fact the CG should have direct access to verify your clearance. I would ask your CG POC to clarify. What it may be is that the CG is validating and determining reciprocity or not. The transfer of the clearance is what takes the time. Even if a visit request isn't sent in advance some one who has their information maintained in JPAS can be verified when they arrive, again depending on local policies. The DOD and/or DHS do not perform background checks for the CG. If you goto Opm.gov you can find all of your own answers to your security clearance related questions. They do have access to JPAS though and it should be relatively easy to make the move, assuming that on the release from service (to facilitate the transfer) they didn't relinquish the clearance for some reason. Good luck! Command may have expedited it, as I was replacing an ET-1 who had been busted twice for incompetence, and transferred off. As LPO for Electronics I had to have access to CIC, Radio, Crypto and IFF, and I had to have it like yesterday since much of the equipment was casrepped. The coast guard should have the same system to be able to look up your clearance. You have to remember your clearance is PII so there's protocols that have to be followed. Good luck and hopefully that gave you some insight. PO2 Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 28 Sep 2016 16:40:13 -0400 2016-09-28T16:40:13-04:00 2016-08-30T13:50:10-04:00
