I don&#39;t lower it daily, however, I do lower it to half-staff on appropriate holidays. It is lit up at night by a flood light that comes on/off automatically. <br /><br />I put it up shortly after I bought the house in 2009. It was the first one that went up on our neighborhood, and shortly after other&#39;s started to appear, and now there are 7. I get asked about it from time to time. There has never been an issue over it, none that have been brought to my attention. I would be quite surprised if there were to be, as my neighborhood is right outside Fort Stewart&#39;s Gate 3. I don&#39;t have a flag pole. But I have one of those things you hang off your porch and I put up a small one. My neighbor two doors down put up a slightly bigger flag on his porch. So I got a bigger one, almost too big to hang that way but I put it up anyway. <br /><br />This neighbor has a real competitive complex or something, because he went out and got a 20&#39; pole and a giant American flag...I gave up :) I just fly my original small american flag. Someday I&#39;ll get a real flag pole and put the colors up right but then my neighbor will probably go all crazy again! It flys 24/7/365 as I have a bright solar light that shines upon it during the hours of darkness. <br /><br />And I'm very fortunate to live in a very cultrurallu diverse of Los Angeles that welcomes the flying of our flag. On any given day you can walk through my neighborhood and not go farther than 50 meters without seeing a flag. There are even a few families that fly the flag of their respective services.... One for the American flag and one for the Army.<br /><br />I live in Marine country and they were always flying theirs proudly. I saw no reason not to do the same. It led to a lot of good-natured kibbitzing (emphasis on "good-natured").<br /><br />My neighbor to the right (a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant) said it was appropriate for his Marine flag to be to the right of my Army flag, but the neighbor to the left (a retired Marine Master sergeant) wasn't happy with the placement. I hope I don't have to explain that...
