Went back into the Army Guard in 2000. (had to take a "voluntary" reduction from E6 to E4 to get back in). Got commissioned in 2003. Transferred to the Army reserves in 2012. I was a FC1(SW/AW) coming up for my first look for FCC when I dropped my packet for an intraservice transfer upon selection to attend Army OCS (via the Blue to Green program in the mid 2000s). I had served on two ships, USS Peleliu (LHA-5) and the USS McClusky (FFG-41) and did a deployment aboard both prior to shore duty in St Louis - where I would be selected to attend Army OCS and head to Fort Benning, Georgia in the late summer of 2006. By pure coincidence, I was commissioned on December 7th - adding to the significance of that day even more so.

I loved my rate in the Navy, I loved the places I was able to travel to and the things I was able to do in and out of uniform, which the Navy afforded me the opportunities to do. However, after completing my degree, I wanted to seek a new challenge and increased responsibility. I'm still here, with a few more years and hopefully another promotion to go before I begin another chapter in my life.

With 9+ years in each the Navy and now the Army (18.5 total), it's becoming more and more difficult to root for the Navy in the Army-Navy football game - but I think i'll root for the Navy one last time this year and finally switch my allegiance to the Army next year for the game.
