Sometimes there is a lack of time, sometimes it is a lack of wanting to do it. Yet, there are those times that one can take, like sitting in the motorpool waiting for end of day formation, that a leader can take to do some mentorship. I'm currently working with nothing but DA Civilians and although I have and continue to provide valuable operational expertise and experience from the field to my current job, I've received more mentorship and knowledge from my civilian counterparts in the aspects of acquisition, provisioning, developing technology and life cycle management. It's a give and take kind of relationship and I'm currently taking more than I am giving.
