How to get sponsored for 153A (rotary wing aviator) when you are not part of an aviation unit?

I have passed my sift and have my flight psychical and DA photo scheduled. I am working on my resume and obtaining my LoRs from Company and Group. The major thing which I am still lacking is a CW3 aviator or higher to sponsor me. I am currently stationed at Fort Bragg and would appreciate any guidance with this task.

Just call every aviation unit you can find. You'd be surprised how many would be willing to help someone motivated to join their ranks.

You'll get turned down a bit but if you get one or two out of ten willing to help you then you're all good

You might possibly call them, and see if they know any retirees near you, or any Army aviation units nearby as well, you know? Just a thought, of course....

Also, if you can, elaborate on school, AP coursework you might've done, GPA, assocs, bach, specific STEM coursework...another possibility, see if there's a helicopter school near you, maybe you could ask to be allowed to go up on a check ride, you might have to pay, however, just as a thought, it might be worth it...also, have you researched helicopter engineering and/or avionics at all? I only ask, as the more you know on the topic, the more conversant you are, the easier you are to get taken seriously, aside from which, general familiarity with the topic certainly couldn't hurt, I'll try to send you some relevant stuff, OK?

Easy. I was not Aviation before I switched over. Take yourself over to Simmons Army Airfield and start asking some people for an IP (Instructor Pilot) to y’all to. Most likely they will interview you or take you to the Standardization Instructor Pilot (SP). They should be willing to give you plenty of help.

A buddy of mine just walked down to the flight line on our FOB and started talking to the pilots. He found a CW4 who was happy to help him out.
