I am deploying and can earn an ARCOM or a Joint Commendation Medal (which I already have) on this deployment. Which one should I take?

Cool to have a choice. Joint is better, more difficult to get unlike something from your own service or a potential from the Army. Unless you think you can swing a Joint Com device later. Not sure how y'all interact to get either one. Congrats and good luck on the deployment, Capt.

The only thing you should be concerned with is the mission and the welfare of your troops. No disrespect intended but a medal should not be your choosing.
A medal should just be something that is appreciated by yourself, because someone considered you be recognized.
As you should in making sure your subordinates receive their just recognition.
You are an Officer in the US Army. You are above this.
