Once that is done, then it should just be a month to three.....as the form needs to roll up the USARC Chain and back down again. I don't know how the Army recruits from RC to AC but do they have a position that fits within your certifications/training? Navy works off of C-WAY which basically says "Hey, we have a position available for ____ and we need a E5, within the Year Group 20__". If you fit that position based on rank, Year Group, and training, then it's usually not a problem from there.

But.....Go with your senior NCOs and follow their advice regarding the DD Forms that are required for you to switch from RC to AC. I would also be on the speedy side since you never know if a position is available or not.

Good luck to you! The DA 4187 needs specific language on it in order to fly. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 28 Jun 2016 15:24:55 -0400 2016-06-28T15:24:55-04:00 Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 1 at 2017 2:15 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-need-help-filling-out-a-4187-for-release-from-the-army-reserves-to-active-duty-could-anyone-help-me-with-this-as-well-as-offer-advice?n=2615077&urlhash=2615077

Hey Walker,

As is stated below, you'll need a 368 release. Be aware that your command is not required to release you. I have seen these things take months. I've occasionally, but rarely seen them take just a few weeks. You will need to go see a recruiter. I hope that you are considered a good troop and that you are "cool" with the AGR and the U/A and command team. They can drag that paperwork on for a long time. Technically speaking, you can put in a 368 to go to the air force, navy, corps, wherever you want to go. So, if you're going active, take a look around and see what is available. Know your options before you sign.
