I need help identifying a military ribbon.

I am trying to identify this ribbon. All I know is that it is from WWII, and is most likely a Navy ribbon. It is part of a group of ribbons that are mostly Navy. I have looked online, at several websites, I have looked in books, and have even gone to my local VFW. I am hoping that someone on here can either tell me what it is, or direct me to a good resource. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm usually good at this game, but I came up empty after searching too. Maybe a foreign award? Do you have any service details such as places served, etc.?

Looks very similar to a US Merchant Marine WWII Victory Medal. The white stripes in the center seem a little too wide, but that's the closest thing I could find.

I agree that the white stripes look a bit too wide, but some photos of the ribbon online look very similar to the one that you posted. It's more than likely the US Merchant Marine WWII Victory Medal. Example: http://sgtriker.com/images/vm122214-s.jpg

I found as close to what you are showing ...look up Merchant Marine Victory Medal WWII ... it is identical except there should be a small green line between the white and brown.
