I've been invited to a wedding and was asked to wear the dress uniform. Is that generally considered tacky?

It certainly isn't if the bride or groom are Military Members, they could add many things that include the Military including guests or member of the wedding party wearing military Uniforms. This could even include ceremony or honors tat wedding might include of a Military nature. Sure nothing tacky about that. I've worn military uniforms to weddings of that nature. You didn't give any information if the wedding was of that type. I haven't ever worn My uniform to a wedding that didn't have a military member as the bride and groom however. I was always proud of My uniform but careful where I wore it. The picture here even the chaplain is in Uniform as is the groom an Army Captain Who married My cousin's daughter. There were several other Military member's in Uniform there as well both Officers and enlisted.

Go for it man! It isn't tacky at all. One of my cousins asked me to when I was a fresh PFC out of boot camp

If the bride has specifically asked you to wear it, then go for it. If she didn't ask, I wouldn't wear it so as not to draw attention away from her. If she did ask, then I'd happily wear it to honor her wishes. I'd always defer to the bride's wishes.

No. If you are going to a social even in uniform then the dress uniform is the proper uniform. I got marred in my dress uniform and there are many others that did the same. If they asked you to then it would be proper.

PFC I was married in my ASU...
My wife and I put "Black Tie or Military Equivalent" on the invitations...
I'd add one caveat that pictures and videos live on long after the event so make sure your uniform is spot on and you act like the professional Soldier you are.

Sure, Represent the Army well! No crazy drunk stunts. Also do a search " Army Party Shirts" when the family takes off jackets during dancing. They are formal shirt on front, but sleeves and back can be patriotic theme or branch. do the search. see whats out there.
