With all of the global touring that comes with service, especially when free ammunition is given, we get to see how the real world is. There is no greater feeling than coming home. Every country has it's perks. Germany has the autobahn, France has frog legs, Iraq has spiders large enough that they can be used to assist you recover your Bradley if need be. Can we all do better? Sure. Some countries can do a lot better. There's lots to experience in other countries and from other cultures, so go and learn. While you're there, you'll see what I mean about the USA being at the top of the heap. However; I do believe that certain leaders of our country need to pull their heads out of their asses and do their jobs correctly or step down from their positions. we are not respected in the same way we once were and that's a problem. It can change but until it does I see it as a problem. America being #1 is a rally cry among the people of our nation, which has brought about the term: "'Murica!" based on the ignorance of such a claim. If you visit Northern Europe, Spain, Italy, even Canada, you might tone down the "we're the greatest country" talk. We are a great country, we have great people, and the greatest military. Going overseas will open your eyes a bit and bring you back to the U.S. after your tour with a different perspective.

Lewis Black had a way of putting it that still makes me laugh and is very true:
"We're the only country that tells the rest of the world, on a nearly constant basis, that we're the greatest country on Earth. And that is a little fuckin' obnoxious! It's why the rest of the world doesn't take us seriously. If you were in an office, and there was someone there who came in every day and said; 'I'm the greatest fucker here! And you sniveling shits would die without me! HAHAHAHA!' I can guarantee that by the end of the week, you would have have killed him." However taking the opportunity to live in or visit other countries can be a great experience and a time to learn about other cultures. I would not shy away from such an opportunity. If it is given to you embrace it and immerse yourself in the culture. You may love it. If you don't you may be able to request a transfer within your company, I do not know but what I will say is when you return to America you will be better off.
