Is anyone familiar with the ROTC Green to Gold, non-scholarship process?

Not sure if everything is ok/just takes time. Seems the program doesn't have clear policies to refer to. Has anyone gone through a program like this? Thanks!

Go to one of the colleges which has a ROTC program and have he/she talk to the Professor of Military Science. Usually it's a Active Duty/Active Guard senior CPT or a MAJ

With respect, sincerely, and I don't blame you if you don't like this answer, but...

I would give very limited assistance and even less encouragement to an enlisted person who wants to be an officer. If a soldier has the initiative, resourcefulness, and desire to become an officer, they'll figure it out and get it done without support or approval from others. In my mind, an officer applicant needs to have an unusual ability to solve their own problems. If they don't get through the application process without assistance, they shouldn't be an officer in the first place.

I would simply say, good luck and I wish you well.

Sorry for hurt any feelings. I may be wrong, but that's my personal view.

I am currently working with a SSG who is going through this. Since they is doing the non-scholarship option, he does not have a board deadline. They will have to get accepted in the college and then into the ROTC program. They will then need to request a chapter discharge for the purposes of G2G. This has to work through the chain of command and I believe it is the Brigade commander who approves. They will have to meet all of the eligibility requirements to include medical qualification. That may be challenging so when they go to the MTF for their DODMERB physical, they need to make the MTF knows this is a DODMERB since that uses different forms. If your Soldier wants to go for Green to Gold, he or she needs to get in contact with the university they plan on attending along with the PMS of that ROTC program. Generally, the Soldier needs to be accepted to the institution and may require a memorandum of approval from the PMS.

I worked through a Green to Gold application when I was on Gold Bar Recruiting. The process will go a lot easier if he or she is actually accepted at the university.

Very. You'll want to reach out to the program you're interested in and speak with their ROO for assistance. The process isn't too challenging so long as you have support from your CoC and the program.
