The only exception to the policy is if you graduated the class prior to the STEP program implementation Jan 1st, then you were grandfathered in, and will still receive 10 promotion points. I understand making BLC and ALC worth no points since they are required for promotion... But why no points for CBRN defense, a course which is not required for promotion, has educational value for all soldiers regardless of MOS, and is becoming increasingly relevant on the battlefields of the present (Syria) and the future (North Korea)? To me, if it is a course that makes the soldier more well-rounded with skills/knowledge that can assist the Army mission, then that is EXACTLY the type of course that should be giving points, even if it means taking away points for other courses like the plethora of online correspondence courses that are worth points which no one has ever learned anything from except for how to click the "NEXT" button as fast as possible. I am still incredulous as to why the Army would value this over a legitimate, practical courses like CBRN defense. Just curious if anyone understands what the Army was thinking...
