But there is no immediate large scale reduction in the size of the military that has been dictated in the National Defense Authorization Act. The last time we had a major troop reduction it was because we pulled out of Iraq, and we had just had a huge growth in military to support the Iraq Surge. During that time we added another Brigade to every Division in the Army. Then at the end we disbanded those brigades. But we had a massive presence in Iraq, about 180,000 US military over there, mostly Army. Today we are rotating one or two brigades at a time through Iraq and Afghanistan, before we left Afghanistan anyway. We have more Soldiers deployed throughout the rest of the world on rotations Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 11 at 2021 1:13 PM 2021-08-11T13:13:01-04:00 2021-08-11T13:13:01-04:00 SPC David Batterson 7175932 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I don&#39;t think so. Here in San Diego. it&#39;s full speed ahead with the Navy and Marines, and their massive operations here. We keep getting more ships for the Pacific Fleet, and the Navy has a shiny new headquarters downtown. Besides the huge Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, the Marines have their MCAS Miramar unit. We don&#39;t have Army here, but this gives an idea of our increasing Defense efforts. We still have enemies to deal with out there. We must never let our guard down.
