Many local chapters of motorcycle clubs are off limits to military personnel, but it is highly dependent on your location. I get what the DODi says about participating in gang activities but many, including military lawyers, will argue that motorcycle clubs are not officially gangs. I have known plenty of folks that were in questionable clubs that had very successful careers and were even able to maintain their security clearances. I think the most important thing for you is to decide for yourself on whether your participation in a club&#39;s activities is appropriate in relation to your military service. Keep in mind that your decision on what you participate in on your off time can/will have repercussions on your ability to get a security clearance to further your career. But i would learn the difference between MC and RC. We as military can not participate in illegal activities. 1% motorcycle clubs are not a good choice to associate with while on AD. Because of what they do and represent. 1% Support clubs can also cause issue for AD members. <br />But, there are several Veteran Clubs that many AD service members are a part of. The whole thing boils down to level of commitment. RC are social clubs and ride. MCs are a way of life. Both have diffrent protocols governing them. When you become familiar with these, then you will know if any is a good fit. Hope this helps.
