Is there a way to verify a person’s service when you suspect them to be a fraud? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-a-way-to-verify-a-person-s-service-when-you-suspect-them-to-be-a-fraud

I have a guy in my neighborhood claiming to be a disabled veteran. He used to claim that he was combat injured in an incident on the Korean DMZ in 1988. I’ve backed him off of that but he’s still claiming to be a disabled vet. He says that he’s a member of every veterans service organization on the planet, including the VFW. I’ve not been able to verify any of that yet, but have a resource to reach out to. Any help with being able to verify this guy’s service or lack there of would be appreciated. I have his name and DOB, and the units that he says he served with. Tread lightly and be the Professional that your Marine Rank says that you are...
Your link that you provided links to the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act website.
If you use it to check on another service member (or anyone for that matter) - that's bad for you to use on another without a Power of Attorney (notarized permission) and certainly could result in federal charges being bought against you.
Quoting from the webpage: "The primary purpose of the SCRA is to ease legal and financial burdens on military personnel and their families brought on by the demands of active duty. In the words of the Act, the provisions were designed to allow service members to "devote their entire energy to the defense needs of the Nation."
The website is not intended for people to verify other peoples service. Without the above mentioned Power of Attorney it becomes Identity Theft. As I said - tread carefully.
