The people who vote on the amount of money the Armed Forces receive and the amount of money that the politicians receive are the same. They are not going to cut their own pay. Would you? So what can we do about it? We can't just not vote because some how some way we will have a person in office. They are going to continue taking money from us because it doesn't effect them and i honestly can not think of one thing we can do about it. We are at the mercy of the lawmakers making laws that benifit them. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 05 Mar 2015 17:34:18 -0500 2015-03-05T17:34:18-05:00 Response by SSG Eddye Royal made Mar 5 at 2015 9:51 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/lawmakers-tell-dod-sequestration-is-here-to-stay?n=514598&urlhash=514598

From a retired military stand point, if Congress would have thought things through they would have never agreed the the President on the most stupidisted thing in the world.. It's puts Vets retirement (comp) check against, active duty (pay) against, Cilivans (SSN) if you can see it this was then it's more understandable.

This does not count any Black Ops Projects, that is not in the normal budget that each President sends to Congress each year. We waste a lot of money on things we don't need. When we spend more on our military than the next eight countries combined and three times as much as the second biggest (China), that is too much especially with our deficit. It is shameful however when the military puts these cuts onto the soldiers' shoulders. In reality, we've become too fat, used to receiving so much money that we are able to be wasteful. We need to become a more fiscally conservative force. SGT Tyler G. But here are a couple of problems I've noticed from sequestration:

1) Despite being given less money and personnel (military and contractor), we are still expected to maintain the same Ops tempo - in fact I'd say it's increasing in some ways. Do more with less. We need expectation management

2) The government/DoD is afraid to cut entire programs. Instead, they cut out parts and pieces - leaving it at an unsustainable level - such that it dies off slowly. If you're going to make massive cuts to a program, you need a sensible disposition plan - or just bite the bullet and cut it entirely.
