The Marine Corps Marathon this past weekend. It was the 40th anniversary of the event, and like always it was a GREAT show.

This is my 4th MCM, as I'm local to the area. I was lucky enough to get in this one via the 17.75k event back in March. They had switched to a lottery system this year because the race had gotten so big and sold out so fast that it was impossible to get in via normal means.

So, the wife and I took the metro (subway) up at 5am. It was relatively nice weather sitting at 50~ degrees and it didn't look like it was going to completely pour on us.

We arrived at the Pentagon, and made it to the runner's village right at 6am. That gave us two hours to get hyped up on adrenaline before the race. It did rain a bit, but it was mostly drizzle and only lasted a few minutes.

Race started at 8:00 and it took wife and I almost 25 minutes to get across the start line. Wife and I stayed together for the first couple miles (the hilly parts), and then split up.

Had a great run. MCM is always beautiful course. Ended up finishing right around my expected time.Marine Corps Marathon: Race Recap - 10/25/152015-10-28T16:08:06-04:00Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS1072413

The weather was great this year...and although the course was a bit more crowded than previous years, I had a great time. The wear blue mile always makes my heart skip a beat as we pay respect to our fallen brothers and sisters-in-arms. There is no better way to see VA/DC in such a compact amount of time. Congrats to you and your wife and hope to see you out there next year! That's me on the right going in for a bear hug to a fellow wear blue runner :)Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 11 at 2015 11:35 AM2015-11-11T11:35:20-05:002015-11-11T11:35:20-05:002015-10-28T16:08:06-04:00
