Use of the NG to restore order during a civil disturbance is generally under the umbrella of State Active Duty, directed by the Governor. I say generally as each state has different laws that constrain or restrain either the NG or the Governor or both in this situation. The determination is for the Governor and his team.

I hate to say it, and definitely don't want to see it, but according to the Constitution even the active Army can be pulled into this from what I read.

Section. 8.

I agree that has got out of hand. Governors are always reluctant to call in the Guard into a City. There are a lot of political ramifications. The Governors is basically saying that the Mayor can't protect their our citizens. It may look like the Governors is strong arming the Mayor as now the Governor has a force on the ground that he controls in the city. I have no faith in the Mayor in that city.

Show me how we detain those assholes across the ocean...We shouldn't have to use deadly force against the people we swore to protect but if they have no regards for our lives or for anything else at all then that's when they become the domestic terrorist ... That's when that big question comes into play...wtf? I can see the pressure that would be put on higher up to decide what to do but at least arresting and detaining and trying to figure out some type of peaceful order would be a good start...and to stop trying to act out this political blindness that they all seem to do...call the bs how it is and test as such...too easy

SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member this is something not new for me, in Puerto Rico the NG had been activated more than once to fight drug wars crimes. I don't remember wich discusion exactly I was talking with CPT Private RallyPoint Member but yes, this is something common for me. Ironic that I come from Puerto Rico to Maryland to see the same crime scenario...

Someone sent a link to Breitbart which reports that this ditz, Brook Baldwin blamed military veterans for the violence last night in Baltimore because…reasons!

The context was a discussion about increased training and retraining for the Baltimore police.

Yeah, she loves veterans. Most of the veterans I know are tired of the battle. That’s why they come home. It’s just CNN and their morons trying to take whacks at veterans and the troops because folks who sacrifice for military service enjoy so much support in the country. But the stank ass hippies don’t like the fact that they can’t spit on veterans any more.

She should go to Panama City where she can find some support among the Spring Breaker frat brothers.

I’d point out to the little idiot that 15 police officers were injured last night in Baltimore, the mayor and the governor decided that it was uniformed National Guardsmen who could solve the problem that the actual culpable parties had created. Ditz.

This is what passes for an apology in her world.

Coming from active duty army to NG I feel that the NG is better trained in situations like this. I know my state has numerous Non-lethal kits for riots and TCP. On top of that I know a few states that have been issued standby orders.
