A med board is just a med board. I don't know of any that are special types. If medical is pushing you towards a med board it is because you have a medical injury and/or illness that hinders your ability to serve to include being able to deploy. To be categorized as deployable you have to pass a medical screening. If you are no longer having medical issues you need to contact medical and pass a screening so they can update your record to reflect a clear medial history. If you are having medical issues and the med board is needed you need to focus on your health. To answer your question, no. Your Command can't waive a medboard. If you aren't cleared by medical and they deploy you that will create a liability to yourself and others. Nobody wants to be on a medboard. I certainly didn't. But you need to lean into it. Your longterm health and safety outweighs the deployment. The Commander would have to jump thru so many hoops to get a waiver for that...it would be easier to just remove you from the roster. This is why they call Doctors.....Doctors. However we often see many Service members discuss deployability without fully understanding what type of deployment, training, etc. if it is a rotation and or a training event you can be assigned as rear detachment of forward Ops support personnel. If you have been found unfit for military service and recommended for separation, again they cannot take you along regardless of the type deployment etc.

Having said that there are often commanders and or senior NCOs who sometimes believe they can get Service members to do things outside the confines of policy or regulation and get caught doing so, skmetimes not.

Make sure your understanding of deployment with orders, or sone other function for leaving your current assignment and the status of your separation. It is not complex you just need to read and speak with your Command and Jag. I have seen junior NCOs and above threaten a Soldier with deployment and the command is t even aware. So speak to your COC first, a minimum of Company lever, then the CSM of necessary. I had a P3 profile (non-deployable) from previous tours and during the work up for my last deployment in 2005 was hand delivered a waiver from the Brigade commander declaring me “essential personnel”, lol. Needless to say, I deployed for 13 months. Good times Response by SFC Zohn Tennyson made Jan 15 at 2023 3:42 PM 2023-01-15T15:42:50-05:00 2023-01-15T15:42:50-05:00 2023-01-10T13:42:17-05:00
