Everyone hears stories of military members coming up with 'brilliant' ideas that end up saving the DoD millions of dollars. I'd like to hear some real examples of ones you've seen implemented in your units. Or maybe one you've been waiting to tell everyone about...

It didn't save the Army millions of dollars but it was recognized by the Army as a great innovation. I had a S-4 NCOIC that wrote a mentor program for 92Y's called "Each one, Teach one"

I had a soldier make a rake for a HUSKY, it helped with finding IEDs.

It wasnt so much a money saving idea but was a hell of a lot of fun !!! we wanted to do night time weapons qualification but had no way to illuminate the range for long periods so our cpt sent some of us out to get a few items and we wound up making napalm and shot it from a home made cannon onto a cliff wall directly adjacent to the range, Lights !!! camera !!! action !!!!!! the range is no longer clear !!!!!!!

Capt Brandon Charters - I put in a suggestion that the Air Force use both sides of the old yellow teletype paper, basically cutting costs for paper.
