NCOA (Non Commissioned Officers Association) benefits?

I recently began inquiring about Masters programs at several Universities. I was not surprised at the costs, but the recruiter at the University of Phoenix suggested that I attain a NCOA membership, as with the entry fee of $30 annually I would save 25% on books and tuition.
After googling the organization, I found that other universities I was interested in offer similar "discounts" to members, but I was wondering if anyone can personally endorse this non-profit, before I invest my money.
I will not be attending University of Phoenix, as there are several schools that will cost significantly less out of pocket with or without NCOA, but I am still curious.

I was also "highly encouraged" to join such organizations. They send out newsletters that help education you and they fight for your branch, regiment, rank structure, etc. In some they host conventions that you can go to and learn and network. BUT like everything else you get out of it what you put into it. If you want discounts they may have some and it might only be useful to be a member until you get your degree, but if want to be active in there then you may decide to get a lifetime membership if they offer it.
