What is the time frame when you are considered unavailable to sign your NCOER? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/ncoers-unavailable-to-sign-time-frame

I changed units within my brigade a month ago because I asked to leave the unit due to a counter-productive PSG. My 1SGT moved me to my new unit within hours, and I didn't receive a change of rater before I left. I get a text 2 weeks later while I'm on paternity leave from my 1SGT saying that my NCOER is ready to sign and to sign it when I get the chance. Meanwhile, I'm not even home im at my in-laws about an hour away from home. So I say to my 1SGT, I have not spoken to anyone about my ncoer, received zero quarterly counseling and haven't even seen the rough draft yet. Is there any way I can see it before I sign he says yes, it's on EES. No more than 3 hours later, I get a text from my old PSG saying that Im refusing to sign my NCOER and I say Im not and I wont be home for some time because 1. Im on leave and 2. I dont have a CAC reader on me 3. I won't be home for some time. He says ok you're unavailable to sign and my 1SGT will sign it for me. Meanwhile, I have yet to see my ncoer and I'm typing this up from my phone while kids are visiting their grandparents. Is there a time frame on when you're considered unavailable? They should be able to wait that long to resolve problems before they submit without your signature.

That said, you have options:
You can drive home and view/sign your NCOER there or bring it with you and drive back.
Or, for about half the cost of that gas, you can order a new CAC reader and have it delivered to where you are same day from Amazon.

Lesson learned, if you are going to be away from home, you should keep your CAC reader in the same bag/backpack with the laptop or tablet you are taking with you.

Just out of curiosity, (since I cannot tell from your profile), how long have you been a SGT, and is this going to be your first NCOER? Your NCOER isn't even late. Why they stressing? MSG Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 31 Mar 2023 21:28:37 -0400 2023-03-31T21:28:37-04:00 2023-03-31T19:48:50-04:00
