PO1 William Bargar 484150

About two months ago I had my first problem with Tricare trying to get a referral for an angiogram which took about two weeks. The cardiologist told me people on Medicare would have been treated sooner. Then two weeks ago I was trying to get a "walker" after my total knee replacement surgery. I literally had to borrow the hospitals walker for more than a week before Tricare finally processed the paperwork and delivered my walker. Totally unsat! Why are VETERANS on the "back-burner" so often? Did we NOT SACRIFICE enough? I NEVER ASK FOR MUCH! But certain essential things I do EXPECT! The worst thing is I have Tricare, and my knees are also "service connected" through VA. I am saddened & disappointed as well! OK, have any of you gals & guys had any issues with Tricare lately? 2015-02-18T19:40:07-05:00 PO1 William Bargar 484150

About two months ago I had my first problem with Tricare trying to get a referral for an angiogram which took about two weeks. I'm a TRICARE guy and, like you, I never ask for much. I go to a military clinic (on Fort Meade) for my primary care, and I have to say the care is great. When I did need a wrist wrap, my doctor sent me upstairs to the area where they keep those items and I got mine in about five minutes. I'm assuming the same would be true of walkers, but that's really a guess.

I'm also guessing there may be a difference between being seen at a military clinic/hospital and being seen at some other (civilian or smaller military) facility.

Good luck with your future TRICARE encounters! Tricare sent us a letter for her to take radiation treatments in Pensacola. We drove to the location to find out that the hospital didn't have an oncology department. They also said they were covering all cost but then get told that we had to pay some additional cost. They still send correspondence that gives the hospital in Pensacola but she goes to the clinic two miles away from the house. Tricare just can't do anything right. They delay or deny authorization. I have fought battles with Tricare as a healthcare professional. There needs to be a better system.
