I would have possibly been further along in my career than I was and also been better prepared for life after retirement from the Army as well.

I enjoyed most of my military assignments, as I have always learned and been mentored throughout my career, each assignment is what you make of it, good, bad, or indifferent, it is up to you to make the difference for you and your comrades.
Response by SFC James Baber made Feb 13 at 2014 1:03 PM 2014-02-13T13:03:22-05:00 2014-02-13T13:03:22-05:00 SrA Lee G. 72375

I started my career in the Air Force Air National Guard before switching to the Army. I would of gone back to before I signed the dotted line and told myself to join an active branch of the military. Also, to take college classes as soon as possible. Now that I'm out of the military I could really use that degree right now. Didn't give a damn when I took it, and my scores showed it. Had the good fortune of being able to take it again (unfortunately I was in a AFSC that I didn't want), and get into something more to my liking. Now I tell anyone to be prepared for it and take it serious. It makes a lot of difference in where you go.
