Wish I was, but I am not. I was a boy scout for two weeks, then left.

That said, my son earned his Eagle Scout rank in October of 2014. I am BEYOND proud of him, for this life achievement, and many other things that make him the amazing guy that he is.

Didn't quite make it, sure wish I did. It became uncool eventually and I buckled to peer pressure. The time I was in though was great, a great bonding opportunity I remember with my father to this day. I know ROTC scholarships looked very kindly on it along with other extracuricular activities.

Just to be fair, this survey should include those who earned the Sea Scout rank of Quartermaster which is equivalent to Eagle Scout with the added advantage that girls qualify. (During the period that Boy Scouting was coed at the Explorer age level, the rules were changed specifying that some portion of the advancement towards Eagle Scout had to be earned as a Boy Scout thus precluding girls from ever qualifying for Eagle.)

Does by-proxy count? My brothers were in the Boy Scouts and stepfather (at the time) was a Scoutmaster. So I found myself as the "honorary" member of the gang. Obviously I didn't earn any badges but I ran with the boys none the less. It was definitely A LOT more fun than the Girl Scouts. Only perk with the "Girls" was the cookies. Which I ended up eating more than selling. lol

I am not SPC Richard White, and it's one of my greatest regrets. I became a Star Scout, had enough merit badges for Life, but put it aside.
Attaining Eagle Scout shows that an early age, a youngster will set a lofty goal and see it through to completion. I didn't realize it at the time.
However, I took it as a life lesson, and decided I would not let anything happen like that again. Since that time, whenever I've started something, I finished it. I made my children do the same.

Yep, made Eagle with Troop 226, Caldwell, Idaho. Was a great program and enjoyed it. Later on I was a Cub Scout Pack leader for some time. Enjoyed it very much. I've still got my Eagle medal. Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. After all these years, I still remember them all.
