It is not called "Fort Lost in the Woods" for nothing, there is nothing out that way unless you like being hours from anything relevant.

The installation itself is OK, but it is a TRADOC post so that means more politics than "real" soldiering, there will be detractors to this statement, but I have served on 2 separate TRADOC assignments and also in Recruiting, I am qualified to speak on the political nature of the beast quite well.

Ensure you have your knowledge of what is and is not appropriate according to 350-6 (I think that is still the regulation) for training environment, because you may come in as an E5 but leave as an E4 or less.

I was there for school in September of 2012. Honestly, the post has improved since the olden days. There is a fair number of relatively new structures, there's a decent commissary & PX, and the town by the gate offers most amenities you need.

Be advised, the town hugs the military reservation border and disappears into the interstate within a 15 minute drive. It's not large and if you need specialty stores or a place to party, you will be driving for a distance.
