<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><p>I could give you plenty of information, depending on what you are needing, spent 6 years there from pre-OIF to '06, and besides all the things I know of the surrounding areas, I can add I am sorry you are going there, it was very disheartening to many prior to 1ID coming back and many have told me it has gotten worse. It is ok if you like going away to camp and hunt on the weekends, other than that not a lot for family activities.</p><p><br></p><p>Good luck.</p>

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><p>Was stationed there for my OEF/OIF deployments, the base is very roomy, as in there is a lot of training areas, as far as proximity to anything you are 2+ hours from KC east, about 2 1/2 hrs from Wichita SE, nothing really north or west for many hrs. of driving. </p><p><br></p><p>Manhattan which is a college town for Kansas State University is an ok place for a young single Soldier, but also has good housing options for married Soldiers as well.</p><p><br></p><p>You can google the installation website or use the RP search engine and check the base site out that way as well. I would also suggest plugging in your new MOS in the search engine as well to find other Soldiers for some additional unit type advice or current info since it has been approximately 8 years since I left there.</p>
