LTC Private RallyPoint Member, I think the horse film was originally made to confirm that all four of the horses' hooves leave the ground at the same time. Until the film "proof", the generally accepted wisdom was that one hoof was always on the ground. The film was made in 1878 using multiple cameras and trip wires.
