Possibility of Conditional Release from Navy to Air National Guard? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/possibility-of-conditional-release-from-navy-to-air-national-guard

How’s it going RP

I am an E-5 currently active in the navy with 7 years in.
EOAS Early 24
PRD April 22
I’m looking to see if it is actually possible to submit a conditional release from the Navy to the Air National Guard.

Currently, I have talked with the ANG recruiter and begun processing with him reassuring me that it is possible as long as it goes through on their side.
My thing is the navy’s/DoD instruction is oddly vague and maybe you guys and gals might have a more keen insight than our wonderful instruction writers. When I did the read through of the instruction it was very apparent that it’s possible but possibility and likely hood are two separate things.

Any help is appreciated! You will have to ETS, then join the ANG. What will happen is you'll submit it to your command, who may even send it up with a lot of quizzical looks before someone points out that enlisted personnel are not released from active duty like that unless they are being accepted into special programs aka commissioning programs. I would say I get a good 10-20 people a year coming from NG or Air Force Recruiters asking about Conditional Releases. You can find all the eligible active duty separation reasons in your Navy enlisted separations reg. A quick Google brings up a Navy.mil page on separations that has very clear instructions for filling out and routing your request.
