Possibly going to Camp Humphrey. Does anyone have input on how it is there? Good or Bad place?

I'm sure it's a lot nicer now than it was in 1980 when I was there. I actually liked South Korea and did a lot of traveling around the country to get a taste of the culture. I found the townspeople very friendly and helpful. Now that it is more modern than when I was there I'm sure there is plenty to do. I used to go on trips through the post recreation center. I also had other assignments off post that took me to other areas and I visited Cheju Island when on leave which was considered the Hawaii of South Korea then.

I loved it at Camp Humphrey Korea!! You’re going to be with 2CAB or with 3/58 Aviation. Hopefully you’ll have a great experience. I went on a 1yr tour in 2012 and ended up staying there for 3yrs!! Remember, all assignments are what you make of it. Make sure you get out and explore Asia, it’s a beautiful country...

My family and I stayed at Camp Humphreys for three years... loved it! The base has seen tremendous growth and the nearby "towns" have lots to offer. But really get out and see the country and the people. Don't get caught up in the drinking, it'll only hurt your career.

I was there in 96-97. I am sure it has changed a lot. I do agree with the others, get out, learn something new, and don't get dumb outside the gate. Seoul, and Osan AB are not far away either. Both good places to enjoy some R & R. Who knows, you might decide to extend your tour!

It is getting really nice. New shops and big PX. Other than not being in Seoul it's not too bad.

Any base you go to is what you make of it. You can either stay in the barracks and complain, or get out and see what Korea has to offer. I have been to what is said, the worst bases in the Army and I enjoyed every one of them. DRUM, HOOD, BRAGG, KOREA. I get out and make the place fun..

It’s definitely better than the other bases on the peninsula. The px, commissary, and barracks are all really new. It can be good or bad depending on your unit and mindset.

I would go to Humphrey’s any day of the week instead of being at Camp Stanley, enjoy the tour!
